This video complements the instructions but does not replace them. Before each use, check the test reference, the substances tested, thresholds, sampling conditions, and exact reading time indicated by the manufacturer.
Before sampling
- check the integrity of the pouch and the expiration date;
- allow the device to reach the operating temperature specified in the instructions;
- do not use a test that has been poorly stored or whose packaging is damaged;
- observe the waiting period without drinking, eating, smoking, vaping, or using any oral product indicated in the instructions;
- prepare a timer and a clean surface.
Perform the saliva collection
Place the collector according to the manufacturer's instructions to obtain a sufficient amount of saliva. A too short sample, a very dry mouth, or improper handling can prevent migration and invalidate the test.
The removable tab facilitates handling, but it must only be used as intended for this reference.
Start the test and respect the reading time
- insert or position the collector as indicated in the instructions;
- lay the device flat when requested;
- start the timer immediately;
- read the result only within the specified time window.
Reading too early or too late can lead to misinterpretation. Coloring that appears after the official reading window should not be used to draw conclusions.
How to interpret the lines?
The control line must appear. Its absence means the test is invalid, even if other lines are visible.
On competitive immunochromatographic tests, a visible test line, even if faint, generally corresponds to a negative result for the substance concerned. The absence of this line with a valid control line may correspond to a presumptive positive result. The instructions for the specific reference used always take precedence.
A positive result is presumptive. When it may have medical, professional, or legal consequences, it must be interpreted within an appropriate protocol and may require laboratory confirmation.
What the test cannot confirm
- it only detects the substances included in its panel;
- it does not measure the degree of impairment or fitness to drive;
- it does not automatically replicate the official procedure of the police or gendarmerie;
- a negative result does not guarantee the outcome of a test conducted later.
